 | | The Residence: The Old Residence was the seat of Salzburg´s prince archbishops from the 12th century up to 1803. The New Residence was built under Archbishop Wolf Dietrich in the 16th century to house his guest. From the 180 rooms of the Residence, it are the staterooms, above all, that beautifully reflect the wordly power and wealth of the prince-bishops. |
Mozart´s birth place: At No. 9 Getreidegasse, on 27 January 1756, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born. The apartment now houses an exhibition of pictures and documents of the Mozart family as well as instruments that belonged to Mozart. Other rooms show an exhibit about Mozart and the theatre, as well as the middle class style of décor during this time.
Small and Large Festival Theatre Take a look behind the scenes and make a tour through the foyer and auditoriums of the small and large theatre.
Hellbrunn Castle and the Trick Fountains The pleasure castle with its splendid park and the trick fountains is an impressing mirror of the power and wealth of Salzburg´s archbishops. The architecture is unique to Europe and well worth seeing.
Our special advice: come to Hellbrunn at Christmas time and watch the vivid scenery of Salzburg´s most beautiful adventmarket.
